Thermodynamics Analysis

MODEL: ID-THA-RAC
During a typical day, everyone deals with various engineering systems such as automobiles, refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers. Each engineering system consists of several components, and a system’s optimal performance depends on each individual component’s performance and interaction with other components. In most cases, the interaction between various components of a system occurs in the form of energy transfer or mass transfer. Thermodynamics is an engineering science that provides governing laws that describe energy transfer from one form to another in an engineering system. In this trainer,
the basic laws of thermodynamics and their application for energy conversion systems are covered in the experiment manual. In addition, the efficiency of the thermodynamic cycles and explanations of some advanced thermodynamic systems are presented.

EXPERIMENTAL CAPABILITIES
1. The system demonstrates the processes of airflow in a duct system, open loop system, closed loop system (recirculation), airflow mixing, humidification, dehumidification, air heating and cooling.
2. Psychometric and Pressure Enthalpy charts may be plotted using the data collected.
3. The effect of the preheater and reheaters and the resulting heat transfer can be compared with the energy consumption.
4. The effects of open loop and the induction of external air may be explored as well as recirculation and adiabatic mixing of the two air streams (recirculated and fresh). The results of which can be plotted on the psychometric charts.
5. Humidification as well as dehumidification can be achieved and the effect of which can be observed upon the evaporator and the collection of condensate. The effect of air volume and air velocity upon relative humidity can be explored.
6. Comparison can be made between the heat transfer to the refrigerant and the heat transfer from the air at the evaporator cooling section.
7. Heat transfer from the steam generator during humidification may be observed and enthalpy increase of the air may be calculated.
8. The purpose and function of dry bulb thermometer and humidity are introduced along with the effect of air velocity on the readings.
9. Experiments on compressor pumping ratio are provided.
